Police have recovered two teenagers’ dead bodies from Wari and Banani area in the capital. Among them, one was found to have been slaughtered to death while another one was stabbed to death.
The deceased have been identified as Hasan, 12, and Shakil, 14.
Wari Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mohammad Asaduzzaman said that Hasan used to live in the house of aunt Aisa and uncle Zaman Bhuiyan at Wari. His slaughtered body was recovered from under the mattress in a room after receiving the news around 10pm on Wednesday.
After primary inquiry, they knew that Hasan was alone in the house on Wednesday afternoon. Some young men entered the house for stealing valuables. Finding Hasan alone at home, they slaughtered him and stole gold ornaments and looted cash from the house, he added.
The SI further said that a youth has been arrested in this connection. He is being interrogated. There were other associates with him. Their efforts are on to arrest them.
The victims’s uncle Zaman said that when Hasan was small, his mother Fatema Akhter and father Monju got separated. They were two brothers and two sisters. Ever since their parents separated, everyone got lived with their maternal grandparents. Hasan stayed in their house for five months after his grandmother died.
He said that Hasan was alone at home at the time of the incident. His aunt Aisa went to the market. His cousin Azizul Islam came home in the evening and waited outside to see the door locked from outside. Later, Ayesha Begum came from the market, broke the lock and went inside and saw Hasan with her throat cut. He later informed the police.
Everything inside the house was broken. It was later found that an estimated Tk85,000 in cash and eight to nine bhories of gold ornament had been stolen from the house, said Zaman.
Meanwhile, deceased Shakil’s father Md Jasim said they used to live at a house in Karail slum. Shakil, the younger of the two brothers, studied a local school. Some youths called him from his house and took him away on Wednesday night. He then stabbed her in the chest. However, Jasim could not say anything about who killed him.
Banani Police’s SI Yasin Hossain said that they recovered the dead body after being informed from his relative. They have not yet arrested anyone. They are investigating the matter.
