UNB, Chandpur :
Two siblings were burnt to death in a fire that broke out at a house of Durgapur village in Faridganj upazila on Saturday.
The victims were identified as Sultana Afrin Mili, 9, daughter of Alamgir Hossain, and her younger brother Al-Amin, 4, of the village.
Locals said, the two siblings were playing at their under-construction building with match sticks in the morning.
The fire erupted around 9am when one of them struck the match. Soon, the fire engulfed the entire house.
Mili and Al-Amin suffered serious burn injuries in the fire incident. They were taken to the burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where Mili succumbed to her injuries around 3:30pm and her brother Al- Amin after some time, said sub-inspector Ibrahim of Faridganj Police Station. Locals said, the fire might have spread to the house for the presence of ignition sources like chemicals stocked at the house for burnishing woods.
