Two minor school children were killed as a pickup van hit a battery-run auto rickshaw in Mukumdagati-Karitala area under Belkuchi upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased were identified as Jahidul, 7, son of Sanwar Hossain and Tithi, 6, daughter of Faruk Hossain, residents of Khidromatia village of the upazila and students of Shaheen Pre-Cadet School.
Officer-in-Charge of Belkuchi Police Station Sajjad Hossain said the accident occurred when an electric pole-laden pick-up van hit the auto-rickshaw in the area at about 11 am, leaving the rickshaw passenger Jahidul dead on the spot and Tithi, injured.
