2 SC lawyers appointed Addl Attorney Generals

Two Supreme Court lawyers Sheikh Mohammad Morshed and Mohammad Mehedi Hassan Chowdhury have been appointed additional attorney generals.
With the two new faces, the number of additional attorney generals in the country is three.
Another additional attorney general SM Munir was appointed on September 1 in 2020.
President Md Abdul Hamid gave the appointment as per Article 3(2) of the Bangladesh Law Officers Order 1972. The solicitor wing under the law ministry issued a gazette notification to this effect on Sunday.
This appointment will come into effect immediately, also read the notification.
The immediate past attorney general Mahbubey Alam died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on September 27 last year.
Then the President on October 8 in 2020 appointed Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President and Senior Advocate AM Amin Uddin as the new Attorney General of the country.
Three days after the appointment of AM Amin Uddin as attorney general, two additional attorney generals of the State, Murad Reza and Momtaz Uddin Fakir, resigned from their posts on October 11 in 2020.
Murad Reza had served the state as AAG since March 27, 2009 and Momtaz Uddin served from July 4, 2010. Since their resignation, the process of appointing two additional attorney generals ended.
A total of 222 law officers, including 67 deputy attorney generals and 151 assistant attorney generals, are now serving the attorney general office.
