2 robbers killed in Ctg ‘gunfight’

Two alleged robbers were killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Mohurir Char project area of Mirsarai upazila early Monday.
The deceased were identified as Yakub Ali and Kamrul Islam who were allegedly involved in a robbery of a jewelry shop at Bariahat of the upazila on February 28. On secret information that a gang of robbers were taking preparation for committing robbery in the
area, a team of the elite force conducted a drive around 4:30am, said ASP Amir, media officer of Chittagong RAB-7. Sensing the presence of the elite force members, the robbers opened fire at them, triggering a gunfight. At one stage, the two robbers were caught in the line of fire and sustained bullet injuries.
The elite forces also recovered eight fire arms, huge bullets, and sharp weapons from the spot. Earlier of February 28, Miscreants looted nearly 350 talas of gold from a jewelry shop and injured two people by blasting bombs at Baroahat of the upazila.
