Police arrested two alleged robbers along with four firearms from Chunkutia of Keraniganj on the outskirts of the capital on Thursday night.
The arrestees are ringleader Arab Ali and his associate Joy Ahmed alias Sirajul Islam.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of South Keraniganj Police Station conducted a drive at Chunkutia intersection around 11:25 pm and arrested the two robbers, Habibur Rahman, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Dhaka, told a briefing at the DMP Media Centre in the city on Friday.
Police recovered one DBBL gun, one SBBL gun, one revolver, one LG gun and two bullets from their possession.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrested robbers revealed that they were members of an inter-district robber gang. They were preparing for committing robbery in Sreenagar upazila of Munshiganj district, the SP added.
Habibur Rahman said the robbers were involved in robbery incidents in various places in Munshiganj, Narayanganj, Moulvibazar, Madaripur and Chandpur districts.
