The dead bodies of the two readymade garment (RMG) workers were found floating in the Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) water of Urmi Knitwear Limited factory at Mouchak in the Kaliakoir upazila of Gazipur district on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Abdur Razzak, 35, son of Sohrab Khan, hailing from Jessore district, and Lavlu Mia, 20, son of Sadekul Islam from Gaibandha district, police said.
Quoting the witnesses, Kaliakoir Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Omar Faruq said that police recovered the bodies at about 8:00am from the ETP unit of the factory following an information received by them. The both
victims were operators of the plant’s reservoir water of the factory.
The police official said that they had sent the to the bodies Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Urmi Knitwear’s Ltd General Manager (GM) Samsul Alam said that the victims’ family members informed the factory officials that they didn’t return home on Friday.
