Raja murder: 2 put on remand

A Dhaka court on Tuesday afternoon placed two accused to a three-day remand each in a case filed for beating Raja, a boy to death on the allegation of stealing a mobile telephone set.
Magistrate Shamsul Arefin of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order when police produced the duo to his court with a ten-day remand plea. Besides, another accused of the case,
made confessional statement admitting his involvement in the killing and later he was sent to jail.
Earlier in the day, Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Hazaribagh Thana unit President Arju, the prime accused in the murder case, was killed in a gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
Arju and his accomplices allegedly beat seventeen-year old Raja to death on August 17 on the allegation.
Later, Raja’s sister Reshma Akhter Shabana filed the case with the Hazaribagh Police Station against 14 accused including BCL leader Arju as the prime accused.
