A woman and her son who sustained severe burn injuries in an explosion at a house in Fatulla area of Sadar upazila on Monday died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in the capital on Friday.
The victims were identified
as Selina Akhter, 36, and her school-going son Anik, 14. Selina’s brother Mamun said his nephew Anik died at around 12:30 pm while his sister about 4:20 pm at the burn unit of DMCH.
Local sources said, six people, including three members of Selina’s family, were injured in the explosion on Monday at Lalkhan.
Besides, four shops were damaged and a wall of Selina’s house collapsed due to the explosion.
Following the death of her husband a few months back, Selina became the sole bread-earner of her three-member family. Selina, who worked as a garment worker, has a daughter, a first-year HSC student.
