2 more friendship bridges by China under process

The government has sent a list of five prospective bridge sites to Chinese authorities for the construction of the 9th and 10th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridges, aiming to facilitate Bangladesh’s socio-economic development.
The Economic Relations Division (ERD) under the Ministry of Finance in a letter dated March 8, 2015 sent to the Economic and Commercial Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in
Dhaka Wang Zijian sates, “…..The Government of Bangladesh has ranked 5 bridges as the candidate of 9th and 10th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridges in future under the Chinese grant.”
The letter also says the list of the five proposed bridge sites and other-related documents as received from the Road Transport and Highways Division under the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges of Bangladesh is being forwarded to the Chinese Embassy for necessary actions at their end.
Talking to UNB, a Finance Ministry official said the ERD forwarded the list of five possible bridge sites to the Chinese embassy recalling the longstanding friendship between Bangladesh and China, particularly the extended support of the Chinese government towards socio-economic development of Bangladesh.
The official said the first of these proposed bridges under the 9th and 10th Bangladesh-China Friendship Bridge Project are 400-meter long Boga Bridge over River Lohalia on Lebukhali-Bhauphal-Dasmina-Golachipa-Amragachia road in Patuakhali district.
