Two more doctors died of Covid-19 on Wednesday. Dr Jalilur Rahman Khan, who was working as a Senior Consultant in Anaesthesiology Department of the hospital, died at 4:30pm on Tuesday in Impulse Hospital,” Dr Rahat Anwar Chowdhury, Joint Secretary of Foundation for Doctors Safety Rights and Responsibilities, told journalists.
Besides, Tanzila Rahman, a physician working at the Marie Stopes Clinic in Dhaka’s Lalmatia, has died from the novel coronavirus infection. The gynaecologist and obstetrician passed away at the Combined Military Hospital in the capital on Wednesday morning. Tanzila was admitted to the hospital three days ago.
Deaths of these two doctors have raised the bodies count among doctors to 28.
Dr Jalil infected during his duty to provide medical services in the hospital, Dr Rahat Anwar said.
Tanzila’s husband is an army officer and they have three children. She was a fourth batch student of the ZH Sikder Women’s Medical College. The physician was working as the obstetrical quality lead at the clinic.
According to Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), as many as 957 doctors have been infected with the virus so far.
