Sr ASP "˜beaten to death': 2 Mind Aid Hospital staff ‘confess to their involvement’

The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka yesterday recorded the confessional statements of two employees of Mind Aid Psychiatry and De-Addiction Hospital in the case filed in connection with the death of Senior ASP Anisul Karim.
 The employees are: Kitchen Chef Masud Khan and Ward Boy Asim Chandra Pal. They admitted their involvement in the death of Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police Anisul Karim on November 9.Magistrate Md Masud-ur-Rahman of the CMM Court recorded their statements after Md Faruk Mollah, Inspector of Adabar Police Station and also the Investigation Officer of the case, produced them in the court.
In the statements, they told the court that they along with other employees beat the victim. More details of the their statements could not be known till completing this report. Later, the court sent them to the Dhaka Central Jail of Keraniganj.
Meanwhile, Fatema Khatun Moyna, 41, one of the directors, was placed on a four-day remand yesterday after she was produced in the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Md Baki Bilkah with a seven-day remand prayer.
Hospital Director Dr Md Niaz Morshed was arrested on November 10 from the capital’s National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital, where he was undergoing treatment for paralysis.
The other three directors- Abdullah Al Mamun, Sakhawat Hossain and Sazzad Amin are still on the run.
Eight other arrestees are now on a seven-day remand in the case.
The murder case was filed against 15 named persons, including the 10 arrestees with Adabor Police Station.
