Two persons were killed and 40 others got critically injured in a clash between two rival groups of people over usurping khash land in Sadar upazila of Moulvibazar district at 9.30 am on Saturday.
The deceased were identified as Md Abdul Malik, 54, and Shfiqur Rahman, 25.
Police and local people said that one Lebas Mia and another Sadbar Mia were engaged in a rivalry over usurping the khash land for long.
A clash erupted between the two rival groups around 9am yesterday .At one stage, Malik and Shafiqur were killed and
several others injured in the clash, said Moulvibazar Sadar Model Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Suhel Ahmed. Some of the injured men were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital, The OC added.
Arbindhu Pordar, Chairman of Khalilpur Union Parishad under Sadar upazila, confirmed the news to media regarding the clash.
