Chittagong Bureau :
Two persons including a female student were killed in separate incidents in the city today and on Sunday night.
The victims were identified as Nusrat Jahan Setu, 15, and Mohammad Sipon, 26.
Police outpost sources at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) said Sipon was electrocuted while working in a drain in city’s Kazir Dewri area around 1.30 pm today.
He was rushed to CMCH where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Besides, Setu, a class ten student, allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself with a ceiling fan following a quarrel with her mother at her residence in the city’s Halishahar Residential area on Sunday midnight, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Nurul Bashar of Halishahar police station.
She was rushed to city’s Agrabad Maa-O-Shishu Hospital where the attending doctors declared her dead.
2 college students held with yaba : Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested two college students with 1,000 pieces of yaba tablets from Kalamia Bazar area in city’s Bakalia thana early today.
The arrestees were identified as Minhazul Islam, 19, an intermediate second-year student of Chittagong Government City College and Atiqul Islam Tareque, 19, an intermediate second-year student of Chittagong Model College.
Bakalia police, on secret information, conducted a drive at Abdul Latif Hat of Kalamia Bazar area around 6 am and arrested them with 1,000 pieces of yaba tablets from their possessions, said Mohammad Mohsin, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bakalia thana.
The arrestees confessed that besides their study, they were involved in yaba trading in the city for long, the OC said adding that a case was filed in this connection.
