2 killed in city road crash

Two persons, including a police constable, were killed in separate road accidents in the city’s Uttara and Matshabhaban area on Wednesday morning.
The victims have been identified as Abdur Rahim, 21, son of Daud Molla from Narail district, and Morzina Begum, 30, from Panchagarh district, police said.
Quoting the relatives of the victim, Uttara West Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rafiqul Islam said that a pickup van ran over Rahim in front of Uttara North Tower at
about 2.30 am. Locals recovered him from the spot in a critical condition and took him to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
The victim joined the Bangladesh Police in 2003 and his ID No. 2616, the OC said
Police seized the vehicle and arrested the driver, he added.
Meanwhile, Shahbagh Police Station’s Sub-Inspector (SI) Imran said that a speedy bus rammed Morzina near the Matshabhaban crossing around 10.30am when she was trying to cross the road recklessly. She breathed her last within few minutes.
 The body had been sent to the DFMCH morgue for autopsy, the SI said.
