2 killed, 28 hurt in Bagerhat road accidents

Two persons were killed and eight others injured when a crane truck turned turtle and plunged into a roadside ditch in Sharankhola upazila of Bagerhat district on Saturday morning.
According to police and eyewitnesses, the crane (City-003) of a Chinese construction firm was going to Tafalbari from Rayenda carrying 15 workers at about 7:00am.

of incident, at about 7:00am, the driver tried to take a turn but he lost his control over the steering. As a result, it skidded off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch resulting in injuries of 10 workers, two of them fatally.
The injured persons were admitted to Sharankhola Upazila Health Complex immediately for treatment. As the condition of two — Tuhin and Palash — deteriorated they were being shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital for better treatment. But the duo succumbed to their injuries on their way to the hospital.

In another incident, at least 20 persons, including women and children, were injured when a passenger coach of Padma Paribahan collided head on with a truck at Signboard-Bogi under Morrelganj upazila in Bagerhat district on Wednesday.
Being informed, police and the locals rushed to the spot and recovered the injured passengers and sent them to different clinics for their treatment. The passenger coach was going to Jessore from Sharankhola and when it reached the place of occurrence it collided head on with the truck coming from the opposite direction.
The injured passengers include Abdul Alim Akon, 45, lecturer of Sharan Khola Degree College, his mother Saleha Begum, 65, wife Rina Begum, 32, daughter Zenia Aktar, 16, and sons Jinan, 8, and Jaber, 5, Abdul Halim Boyati, 52, of Sannyasi village, Swapan Mistry ,50, of Masua under Mathbaria Upazila and Parul Begum, 55, of Sharankhola upazila.
