Two kids drowned in two separate incidents in Hajiganj Upazila on Sunday afternoon.
They were identified as Raju, 2 , son of Al Amin Haolader of Chottontor village in Bakila Union in Hajiganj Upazila and Mina, 2, daughter of Dulal Patwary of Digdair village under the neighbouring Faridganj Upazila. Mina came to her maternal uncle’s home -Dakhshin Gazibari at Panchoi village under Hajiganj Upazila where she drowned while playing.
Close kin of Raju and Mina told this correspondent that Raju suddenly went missing for long in the afternoon while playing with others. After frantic search, his body was found floating in the pond of his home. At once he was rushed to Hajiganj Health Complex where the on duty doctor declared him dead. In the second incident at Panchoi village, while playing with others, unnoticed by other playmates, Mina also suddenly slipped into the pond of her maternal uncle’s home and drowned. After frantic search, she was spotted floating in the pond. She was at once rescued and rushed to Hajiganj Health Complex where the on duty doctor declared her dead.
Contacted, Residential Medical Officer Dr Joynob Banu confirmed the reports. She added, both the children died before they were brought to health complex.
