Two journalists were injured in an attack by Jubo League men in the city’s Zero Point area on Tuesday morning.
The victims were identified as Mamun Reza, vice-president of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) and khulna bureau chief of ‘Channel 24’ and Daily Samakal, and ‘Channel 24’ cameraperson Khairul Alam.
Witnesses said an altercation ensued between the supporters of Jubo League leaders Nazmul and Sheikh Hafizur Rahman over opening an office of Nazmul at the Zero Point at about 11:30am.
A chase and counter-chase took place between the two groups, triggering a clash.
At one stage, the feuding groups attacked Khairul while he was taking the video footage of the clash, leaving him injured. Later, they also swooped on Mamun Reza and vandalised the camera.
