2 JCD men hurt in mob attack on DU campus

Two activists of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), students wing of BNP, were injured as the Dhaka University (DU) students and staff caught them when they tried to blast crude bomb beside the Jagannath Hall of the DU campus on Monday morning.
They were handed over to Rapid Action Battalion-10 (RAB) after mass beating. They were later admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The JCD activists were identified as Shafiul Shuvo and Harunur Rashid. They are students of Statistics and Arabic Literature Departments respectively.
A case was filed with the Shahbagh Police Station
 under the explosives act, said Sirajul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of the Police Station.
Witnesses said that a group of JCD activists brought out a procession in support of the ongoing 72-hour nationwide hartal enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance on the area around 8:40 am.
At one stage some general students caught the two activists from near the Jagannath Hall and beat them. A team of Rapid Action Battalion rescued them and took them to Dhaka Medical College and hospital for treatment.
