Two Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) men were injured in a mass beating by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL)
activists and general students at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on Wednesday afternoon.
The injured were identified as Shahadat Hossain, information and technology affairs secretary of
JCD central committee, and Golam Kibria, 23, an activist of Dhaka University’s Amar Ekushey Hall unit and a fourth year student of the DU.
Officer-in-Charge of Chawkbazar Police Station Azizul Haque said general students and BUET BCL men chased a group of 10-12 JCD activists who tried to march towards BUET Shaheed Minar with a procession around 3:45pm.
They caught Shahadat and Golam Kibria along with two petrol bombs as they tried to enter Ahsanullah Hall of the BUET after being chased. Later, they gave them a good beating.
