A mobile court here on Thursday sentenced two Jamaat-e-Islami leaders to two years’ imprisonment each on charge of carrying out subversive activities.
The convicts were identified as district unit Jamaat office secretary Mohammad Ali and Narail Poura ward no. 1 Jamaat president Shariful Islam.
District police information officer sub-inspector Kamal Hossain said a team of police arrested the duo from Binerpota area in the district town at about 9:00 am.
Later, the Jamaat men were produced before the mobile court, led by
executive magistrate Shah Abdus Sadi, which sentenced them to twoyears’ imprisonment each.
