Police in a drive arrested two people along with 48 bottles of foreign made wine and 4,300 canes of beer from Paturia ferry ghat in Shivalaya upazila early Friday.
The arrestees were identified as Mamun Hossain, 29, a bus driver and son of Sultan Hossain of Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat district, and Alamin Hossain, 32, helper of the bus and son of late Yusuf Ali of Batiaghata upazila in Khulna district.
Acting on secret information, a team of police intercepted a bus of ‘Tisha Paribahan’ near Paturia ferry ghat and recovered 4,300 canes of beer and 48 bottles of foreign wine from the bus around 5:30 am, said Rakibuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Shivalaya Police Station.
Police arrested the driver and helper of the bus for interrogation.
