Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested two suspected drug traders along with 14,000Yaba tablets from Panerchhari Bazar area in Ramu upazila on Sunday night.
The arrestees are: Md Hashim, 25, son of late Amir Hamza and Khair Hossain, 29, son of Bacha Miah, residents of Shahporir Dwip in Teknaf upazila.
Tipped off, a team of RAB-7, led by Major
Md Masud Rana, set up a checkpost on Teknaf-Cox’s Bazar regional road adjacent to Panerchhari Bazar Bridge around 10:15pm.
When the team signaled a Cox’s Bazar bound CNG-run auto-rickshaw to stop, the driver tried to flee away.
However, the team managed to halt the auto-rickshaw and recovered the Yaba tablets worth Tk 70 lakh searching the vehicle.
