A court here on Tuesday sentenced two people to life imprisonment for abducting and killing a Madrasa student in 2015.
The convicts are Atahar Ali of Morrelganj upazila in Bagerhat, and Habibur Rahman of Jhenaidah’s Kotchandpur upazila.
They were also fined Tk 20,000 each.
According to the prosecution, the body of Miraj Hossain, 12, son of Meher Ali of Bhomradanga village in Kotchandpur, was found in a filed on March 16, 2015, two days after he had gone missing.
Four people were arrested after a case was filed and police submitted charge sheet against all of them.
After examining records and witnesses, Additional District and Sessions Judge Golam Azam delivered the verdict and acquitted two others as allegations brought against them could not be proven.
