Police recovered the body of a housewife from her house at Chhatiani village in Dhunat upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Asma Khatun, 35, wife of Al Mahmud of the village.
Quoting locals, officer-in-charge (investigation) of Dhunat Police Station Farukul Islam said Mahmood tortured his wife Asma physically on Friday night following a family feud and at one stage, he strangled her to death.
On information, a police team recovered the body that bore several injury marks and sent it to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra for autopsy, said the OC.
They found evidence after a primary investigation that the woman was strangulated to death, he said. Mahmud and family members went into hiding after the incident, added the police official.
UNB from Chandpur adds: The body of a sexagenarian man was recovered from the Meghna River on Friday morning.
Locals spotted the body of the unidentified man near Chandpur launch ghat at Uttar Sreeramdi area in the district town. On information, police from Sadar Model Thana recovered the body at 11am, said Officer-in-Charge (investigation) Md Mohiuddin.
