2 electrocuted, 1 commits suicide in Morrelganj

One Idris Ali Hawladar (65), a farmer of village Baharbunia under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district met a tragic death when he was electrocuted in a canal in the village in the early hours of Thursday. It is learnt from Morrelganj Fire Service Station that in the early hours after purchasing Aman paddy seedlings from Shaikhpara the-ill fated farmer was returning home by a boat through a canal and when he reached the place of occurrence he, somehow, came into the contact with a live electricity wire that crosses the canal but was loosely connected. As a result, he was electrocuted and died on the spot. On information a fire service unit rushed to the spot from Morrelganj and recovered the dead body.
Another report states that Rubel Kazi (24), son of one Mannan Kazi of village Bhaijor under the Upazila also met his tragic end when he fell on the ground from a cocoanut tree after being electrocuted on the same day at 11 am. Some locals told, in the morning the unfortunate young man climbed the cocoanut tree in the village in order to pluck cocoanuts. But when he reached its top he was electrocuted as soon as a leaf of it suddenly touched a live electricity wire that passes by the side of the tree due to sudden blowing of wind. Consequently, he fell from the tree and was killed on the spot.
It is also reported that Mithu Hawladar, son of one Shahjahan Hawladar of village Kharaikhali under the same Upazila committed suicide after hanging himself with a beam of his bed room on the same day at 11 am. But the reason behind ending his life in such a drastic way could not be known. Later his dead body was recovered form his room.
When contacted Md. Monirul Islam, Officer-in-charge of Morrelganj PS told, 3 separate UD cases were lodged with the PS in connection with those 3 unnatural deaths. He added, the dead body of Idris Ali Hawladar was sent to Bagerhat morgue for its autopsy.
