The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday arrested two employees of the Election Commission from different places in Chattogram city in money laundering case.
The arrested employees are: Hrishikesh Das, office assistant of Senior District Election official of Chattogram, and Nirupam Kanti Nath, data entry operator of Bandarban district election official’s office. They were produced at Chattogram court and sent to Chattogram Central jail.
The Commission filed a case including six others. They are Chattogram
Doublemouring Thana Election Office assistant Joynal Abedin, his wife Anisun Nahar Begum, broker Jafor, his assistant Bijoy Das, Bijoy Das sister Sima Das alias Sumaiya Akter and EC Dhaka office assistant Satta Sundar Dey.
Confirming the matter, ACC Deputy Director Lutful Kabir Chandan told media that the two employees have been arrested for amassing Tk 697,000 from beyond known sources of income.
A case has been filed against them under Money Laundering Prevention Act, 2012.
