Two police officials of Barishal Kotwali Police Station were suspended for professional misconduct, irregularities, negligence to duty and breach of discipline.
Suspended police officials were Sub-Inspector (SI) Bashiruddin and Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Md. Sharif, confirmed Akram Hossain, deputy commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police (south).
Deputy Commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police (BMP) said that the suspended two police officials were accused of various charges including negligence to duty and breaking discipline.
On Monday night, authourity also directed to file a departmental case, DC of BMP added.
Shahabuddin Khan, Commissioner of Barishal Metropolitan Police, said that punitive measures have been taken against the two police officials chaarging professional misconduct, breaking discipline irregularities and negligence in duty.
At the same time, departmental cases will also be lodged against them.
Mentionable police arrested Amina Aktar Liza after murder of deed writer and money lender Riaj who wave killed at his home at Bukhainagar village under Barishal Sadar Upazila on April 19,201. His mobile phones were stolen by the killers.
Amina Akhtar Liza was second wife of the victim and gave confessional statement at Barishal court on April, 20, 2019 telling her part in makling plot. She later granted bail and released from jail after giving birth to a child at jail.
Then Liza alleged to the police commissioner on February, 2020 that she confessed at Barishal court after Sub-Inspector Bashiruddin torturing her forced to give confessional statement.
Amina Akhtar Liza on Tuesday September 8, 2020 appealed to the Barisal Metropolitan Magistrate Court to withdraw her confessional statement about involvement in the murder case as it was forced by police torture.
After that BMP commissioner directed further investigation and Inspector Sagir Hossain as new investigation officer arrested three people in August and recovered two of the stolen mobile phones the murdered Riaz.
The arrested three also giving confessional statements before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Barishal on August 28, confessed to have chopped Riaz to death after he awakened during stealing mobile phones. At time of killing Riaz was sleeping alone in the bedroom.
