A tribunal in Kishoreganj on Sunday noon sentenced two police constables to death and six other to four years jail for killing two college girls after rape in Western Hotel in Dhaka in 2008.
Judge (District Judge) Kiron Shanker Halder of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, Kishoreganj on Sunday noon passed the order.
The death row convicts cops are Maniruzzaman alias Halud Miah alias Jibon (33) and Shamim Hawlader alia Zahir (38) both were attacked to Dhaka and Kishoreganj police lines. The tribunal also fined them Tk. 100,000 each.
Other condemned convicts are Mostafa Mir, Abul Hossion, Babul Miah and Dilbar Hossaion. The tribunal also fined them Tk. 50,000 each.
According to the prosecution, cops Moniruzzaman and Shamim developed love affair wih two college girls Afroza Akhter Soma, daughter of Abu Bakkar Siddique a school teacher and her friend Afroza Urmi, daughter of Advocate Noron Nabi both first year student of Kishoreganj Govt. Girls College, over mobile phone.
On, 21 September, 2008 the culprits cops brought the girls to the Western Hotel in the capital with the promise of marriage.
Later, the cops raped the girls there and demped their bodies.
Later, DMP recovered the bodies and Soma’s father Abu Bakkar Siddque filed a case in this connection with Kishoreganj Model Police Station.
D.B Inspector Md. Amzad Hossain submitted a charge sheet accusing eight people.
The case was conducted by Special Public Prosecutor Advocate M.A Afzol on behalf of the state and Advocate Saiful Hoque Khan Sajon and Advocate Md. Siraj Uddin for accused.
