Two female college students were killed as a truck hit a rented motorcycle they were riding on Jessore-Khulna highway in Hushtola area on the district town on Monday afternoon. The deceased were identified as Popy, 25, daughter of Azizur Rahman, and Rumi, 24, daughter of Nur Mohammed, hailing from Dattakona village in Monirampur upazila of the district. Both of them were Master’s final year student of Jessore MM College.
Sheikh Ilias Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station, said the truck hit the rented motorcycle in the area around 1:30pm when Popy and Rumi were returning home from the college after filling up their forms for the final examination, leaving the former dead on the spot and latter and the motorcycle driver injured. The injured were taken to JessoreMedicalCollegeHospital where Rumi succumbed to her injuries later.
