Two children have been killed when an abandoned building collapsed in Rangpur City’s Robertsonganj area.
Deceased Ayat Ali, 5, and Shahriar Alam Arnab, 7, were playing near the abandoned building close to the Non-Bengali Camp-3 at Ispahani, where they used to live. Local Ward Councillor
Akram Hossain said the abandoned building next to the camp collapsed when children were playing in its yard around 11:30am on Friday. Ayat and Arnab were rushed to a hospital after being rescued from the debris of the collapsed building, but they died on the way, the councillor said.
Kotwali Police Station Inspector Azizul Islam said police gave the families permission to bury the bodies without post-mortem examination on requests from the locals.
