Two minor boys drowned in the Korotoa River at Bishwanath Ghat in Ghoraghat upazila here on Saturday evening.
The deceased were identified as Rifat Mia, 7, son of
Late Ahmed Ali of Kulandandapur village and Omar Faruk, 6, son of Mukul Islam of the same village in the upazila.
Both the kids slipped into the river while playing near the river bank after school.
Being informed by another playmate, locals recovered one off the bodies. Later, a team of fire service and civil defence from Rangpur recovered the other body after three hours of frantic efforts.
Later, the bodies were handed over to their respective families, said Amirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Ghoraghat Police Station.
