A mobile court here on Thursday foiled two child marriage bids in separate places and fined seven people in this connection in Manirampur upazila of the district.
Court sources said a marriage ceremony was arranged at the house of one Aminur Rahman at Kashipur village where a class X student was being married off to Manirul Islam.
On information, a team of mobile court, led by UNO and executive magistrate Kamrul Hasan, went to the spot, foiled the marriage and fined five people, including the father of the bride, Tk 1000 each for arranging the marriage.
In another incident, the same mobile court went to Jalalpur village where another child marriage was being held at the house of Malaysia expatriate Abdul Alim.
The mobile court foiled the marriage and fined bride’s uncle Shafiqul Islam and matchmaker Mukter Hossain Tk 1000 each.
