A Dhaka court yesterday placed two Chhatra Adhikar Parishad-men including former Dhaka University unit President of organization, Bin Yamin Molla on a two-day remand each.
Magistrate Hakim Moinul Islam of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court Dhaka passed the remand order after hearing on Monday.
Other accused is Arefin Hossain, Dhaka Metropolitan South unit Sports Secretary of the
organization. Another accused Taohidul Islam Shipon was sent to the jail rejecting the prosecution’s remand plea.
Earlier, Detective Branch (DB) Police SI Saiful Islam of Ramna Zonal Team produced the three accused in the court with five days’ remand plea for each accused. Defence lawyers- Sirajul Islam, Khademul Islam and Md Pervez sought bail of the accused rejecting the remand plea while, General Registration Officer (GRO) Nizam Uddin opposed the defence plea seeking the bail plea on behalf of the accused.
The case docket says, on March 25, Chhatra and Juba Adhikar Parishad brought out a procession in Motijheel area opposing the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and there was counter-chasing between the police and the people of the procession. On the occasion police detained one Abul Kalam Azad. He was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for medical treatment while Chhatra Adhikar Parishad activists snatched him by force from the police.
On the same day, Paltan Model Police Station SI Raihan Habib filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station accusing 19 people. They include Rashed Khan- Acting Convener of Chhatra Adhikar Parishad, Joint Convener Faruque Hasan, DU former President Bin Yamin Molla and present President and DUCSU’s former Social Welfare Secretary Hossain and Dhaka University unit General Secretary Akram Hossain.
