A mobile court of Kishoreganj District Administration supported by Department of Environment (DOA) fined two brick kilns at Jungalbari area in Karimganj upazila of Kishoreganj Tk2 lakh, on charges of polluting the environment and cheating on consumers on Thursday afternoon. The court led by Karimganj AC land & Executive Magistrate Umme Hafsa Nadia imposed the fines during a long time drive conducted at United Bricks and M.B.K Bricks in Jongalbari of Karimganj upazila.
In the drive, M/S United Brick Kiln was fined Tk 1 lakh and M.B.K Brick Kiln Tk. 1 lakh, , said DoA Senior Chemist Rubayet Taharim Shorav.
Apart from the fines, those brick kilns were demolished and the owners were asked not to operate brick kilns, said the Magistrate Umme Hafsa Nadia. The drives against illegal brick kilns will continue, added the Magistrate.
