2 Bangladeshi traffickers held in KL

Unb, Dhaka :Malaysian police arrested nine suspected human traffickers, including two Bangladeshis, from Kedah region of the country on Tuesday.Of the arrestees, seven were Myanmar nationals. Malaysia police Inspector-General Tan Seri Khalid Abu Bakar said that they have arrested the people on suspicion of human trafficking. They are examining the issue.Meanwhile, eight Bangladeshis were arrested in last May. Police arrested at least 19 suspected human traffickers from May to June.Of the arrestees, one Malaysian was sentenced following the anti-trafficking law on June 20. Police said that human traffickers used to smuggle people into Malaysia’s Langkawi Island from middle of the sea by boats.Tan Seri Khalid said that a special team has been formed to prevent human trafficking. The team is still conducting raids on Thailand-Malaysia border.He said that human trafficking is a modern generation of slavery and disciplinary offense. It is against all laws, humanity, and religion. Inspector-General Tan Seri Khalid advised to give exemplary punishment to the perpetrators.
