Two ASI’s have been arrested allegedly for their involvement in a crime incident held recently. The Detective Branch of Police, Lalbag Division under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested them after getting information published in a report which submitted to the court by the police.
Two accused are ASI Masum Sheikh of Araihazar Police Station in Narayanganj and Shahid Sheikh of Gandaria police Station in the capital.
Though the names of the two accused cops were not mentioned in the statement of case, but their names came up in the confessional statements after the arrest of others who were involved in the incident.

Police Deputy Commissioner of the Detective Branch for Lalbagh division Rajib Al Masud confirmed the matter to the New Nation and said that a gang of people has been earning huge money for a long time under duo’s leadership by intimidating the common people in various ways.
Even they have been using government weapons, vehicles and handcuffs for these purposes.
The two policemen, however, have already been suspended for their alleged involvement in the incident, DC Masud added.
The process of taking departmental action is also going on, said Walid Hossain, Deputy Commissioner (Media) of DMP.
They have been sent to court showing their arrest. The report has already been sent to the concerned department for taking departmental initiatives against them, DC said.
Whoever is the culprit, we generally see him as the culprit.
Even they were not given any exemption as they were members of the police, DC further said.
