Two local Awami League leaders have died in Natore after a truck hit the motorcycle they were riding on.
Police said the accident took place on Friday on the Natore-Bogra Highway at Singra Upazila.
The victims have been identified as 40-year-old Shakhawat Hossain Bakul and 35-year-old Madhu Miah.
Bakul was the president of the ruling party’s Chamari Union unit while Mia headed a ward unit, said Singra police’s Sub-Inspector Aktar Hossain.
He told this news agency, “A truck hit their motorcycle around 9:30am at the Jorbridge area leaving the two dead on the spot.”
The bodies have been sent to the state-run hospital in Natore town for autopsy, said Singra police OC Nasir Uddin Mandal. He said that they were trying to trace the truck.
