Police arrested two members of Aygan party and seized a auto-rickshaw in the rescued city’s Banani area on Sunday night. Police also recovered the auto-rckshaw driver Abdul Maleque in senseless condition from the spot.
The arrested persons have been identified as Jakir Hossain, 26, and Anwar Hossain, 40, police said.
Cantonment Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) Atiqur Rahman confirmed the news and said that police arrested Jakir and Anwar from the Army Officers Mess on the
Staff Road in Banani at around 1:30am. Police also seized the auto-rickshaw and recovered Abdul Maleque and sent him to the Kurmitola General Hospital.
He added that Jakiar and Anwar fed the driver toxic food with tea in a tea stall near Kuril Flyover and took control of driving after the driver lost its sense.
The arrested persons have been being interrogated for three days in the custody of Cantonment Police Station, the police official said.
A case was filed with the police station in the connection with the incident, he added.
