E-commerce company Alesha Mart on Thursday started giving refunds to its consumers as per the guideline of the Digital Commerce Cell (DCC) formed by the commerce ministry.
On the first day, it refunding some Tk 28.36 lakh to 10 customers at a programme at the commerce ministry in Dhaka.
Senior Commerce Secretary Tapan Kanti Ghosh inaugurated the refunding of money at his secretariat office in the capital.
Gradually some Tk 230 crore would be refunded to the affected consumers in the next three months, said AHM Shafiquzzaman, chief of the DCC.
Money of some eight e-commerce companies involved in embezzling of consumers’ money will also be refunded gradually, Shafiquzzaman also said.
