Touring Sri Lanka A team scored 171 for 4 in 60.2 overs in the first innings against Bangladesh A team on the first day of the first unofficial four-day Test match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Tuesday.
Sri Lanka opened the innings first after winning the toss in a delayed start of the match and made a frustrating start losing the opening batsman BKEL Milantha (4) for 12 runs in 7.5 overs.
But another opener cum captain FDM Karunaratne pairing with one down HDRL Thirimanne repaired the early damage contributing 85 runs in the 2nd wicket stand to carry the team total to 97 for 2 in 32.3 overs.
FDM Karunaratne contributed 60 runs off 106 balls hitting seven boundaries while HDRL Thirimanne remained unbeaten making team highest 66 runs off 140 balls featuring five fours and one six.
Besides, SMA Priyanjan and KIC Asalanka were the other Lankan batsmen reaching the double figure. Priyanjan scored 23 runs off 46 balls with the help of two fours and a six while Asalanka made unconquered 12 runs off 42 balls including one boundary.
Khaled Ahmed was the most successful Bangladesh bowler grabbing three wickets out of four conceding 37 runs in his 14-over spell featuring five maidens while Abu Hider took the remaining wicket giving away 22 runs in his nine-over bowling including one maiden.
