The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka on Sunday indicted 19 BNP leaders and activists accused in a case filed with Motijheel Police Station for obstructing police duty, sabotage and exploding crude bombs, while Mirza Abbas, Convener of BNP’s Dhaka city committee, was acquitted in the case.
The court granted his plea as there was no specific allegation against him, said defence counsel Mohsin Mia. The case statement says that the BNP leader was financier for the acts of sabotage.
According to case details, activists from a march
of the BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami attacked police personnel at Motijheel on June 27, 2010 with “intentions to kill them”.
