186 UZ women members of reserved seats take oath in Rajshahi

Newly elected 186 women members of the reserved seats in 62 Upazila Parishads of different districts under Rajshahi division took oath here on Tuesday.
Commissioner of Rajshahi division Helaluddin Ahmed administered the oath to the public representatives at Shilpakala Academy auditorium in the city. Director of Local Government Division Aminul Islam conducted the official event.
Deputy Inspector General of Police of Rajshahi Range Iqbal Bahar and other divisional and district level high officials and public representatives were present at the oath-taking ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Helaluddin Ahmed urged the newly elected members to put in their best efforts for successful implementation of the local government related projects.
He expressed their optimism that Bangladesh would become a middle-income country by 2021 if the present development spree in all sectors continues with collective efforts of men and women equally.
The development programmes carried out in all sectors, including agriculture, industry, power, education, health, investment, food security, social safety net, women empowerment, environment, information and communication and technology are remarkable.
Helal Uddin said the present government under the dynamic leadership of Sheikh Hasina has been working for the last six and a half years for the well being of the people.
He said initiative has been taken to engage the youths in the democratic activities through their active and effective participation for strengthening social development and more community participation.
Divisional Commissioner Helal Uddin urged the officials and others concerned, especially the women public representatives to discharge their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty for successfully reaching the development activities towards the rural people for their welfare.
