UNB, Rajshahi :A tribunal here on Tuesday convicted 18 people for killing a man in Chapainawabganj and sentenced them to life imprisonment.The convicts are Monirul Islam, Shantijul Islam, Bairul Islam, Anras Ali, Anarul Islam, Sadequl Islam, Laddu, Alauddin, Ataur Rahman, Alam, Bakhtar Ali, Motin, Jalal Uddin, Bakul, Zia Rahman, Bishu, Alam and Obaidul Islam.The court also fined them Tk 10,000 each, in default, to suffer six months more rigorous imprisonment.According to the prosecution, Abdul Karim of Chakkirti village in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj was beaten to death by the convicts on August 29, 2010 as he tried to resist them from occupying a land of one Naimul Haq.
