17 fishermen who went missing after a fishing trawler named MV Tariqul-1 submerged in the Bay of Bengal were rescued three hours after the incident occurred on Saturday morning.
Citing the rescued fishermen, Barguna district fishing trawler workers union`s General Secretary Dulal Majhi said, after the incident, another fishing trawler rescued those 17 fishermen. “But the physical condition of the rescued fishermen is critical.
It is to be noted that the trawler along with 17 fishermen sank in the Bay of Bengal near Narikelbaria adjacent to the Sundarbans in storm at around 9:30 am today (Saturday)
“Trawler ‘Tariqul-1’ owned by Md Chhagir from Pathoghata of Barguna capsized with 17 fishermen in the Bay of Bengal when it was raining hard around 9:00am, said Md. Golam Mostafa Choudhury, President of Barguna Fishing Trawler Owners Association.
