Mayor's initiative to prevent dropouts in classes: 17 girl students get bi-cycle in Jhenaidah

As a huge number of girl students, especially from the poor families could not continue their study from a far area due to communications troubles, are compelled to get married at immature age.
Their dreams are demolished with the early marriage. But the girls students could play vital role in the family as well as society where they were grown normally if the education could be ensures for them in rural areas.
Considering the situation, Saidul Karim Mintu, Mayor of Jhenaidah Municipality, also the General Secretary of the ruling Awami League, has taken a fruitful initiatives to remove the communication barriers of the some of the poor students just to encourage them in continuing their education.
In a simple ceremony yesterday at Bhaina Shahid Mosharraf-Daliluddin High School Hossain, the chairman of the school management committee Saidul Karim Mintu had handed over the bi-cycles among the learners.
Abdur Razzaque, Headmaster of Bhaina Shahid Mosharraf-Daliluddin High said, his school was established in 1985 where a total of 627 students were studying. Of them 60 per cent was female who attend the classes for 5-6 kilometres away everyday. All the 109 candidates have passed the secondary school certificate examination in last year, where 9 were bagged GPA-5.
As the roads of each and every corner of the area could not be developed, most of the girls before completion of their secondary education were the victims of early marriage. Taking the advantages of bad road condition some evil people motivates the rural people not to send their girls far from the house. As a result a number of girls students were dropping every year, the head master said.
During the distribution of bi-cycles among 17 poor girls student, Upazila nirbahi officeer Manira Pervin, Assistant upazila secondary education officer Sultan Ali among others were present.
