The government has allocated 1, 59,911 metric tons of rice for the distressed people of the district on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme.
District Relief and Rehabilitation Office source today said the rice would be distributed among 1,59,911 VGF card holders of seven upazilas, including three pourashavas, in the district before Eid-ul-Fitr.
Of the total, 26,171 cards were allocated for Fulchhari Upazila, 25, 216 for Sundarganj Upazila, 15,111 for Shaghata Upazila, 31, 242 for Gobindaganj Upazila, 15,712 for Sadullapur Upazila, 28,297 for Sadar Upazila and 13, 310 for Palashbari Upazila of the district.
Each of the beneficiaries would get 10 KGs of rice so that they can celebrate the forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
Deputy Commissioner M. Abdus Samad told BSS that instructions were given to the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) and Project Implementation Officers (PIOs) to distribute the rice among the beneficiaries smoothly.
