Wrong question papers distribution: Govt scrutinizing allegations: 16 teachers relieved of duties

At least 16 teachers have been relieved of their duties from different examination centres of Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations 2019 across the country.
The decision was taken after finding their negligence in duties during the examinations on Saturday.
The teachers distributed wrong question papers among students on the first day and they did not take any step after learning the matter.
As a result, the students failed to give answers to the questions satisfactorily.
Among the relieved teachers, five were secretaries of different centres of SSC examinations, while 11 others were given other duties during the examinations.
In Chandpur, four secretaries of four examination centres were relieved of their duties in the Hajiganj Upazila.
Besides, six other teachers of different educational institutions were also relieved of their duties for providing wrong question papers to the examinees.Hajiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Baishakhi Barua said that they found negligence of the teachers in performing duties. That is why, the teachers were relieved from all the activities of the examinations duties.
In Madaripur, six teachers (One secretary, one assistant secretary, two hall superintendents and two assistant teachers) were relieved of their duties.
The teachers provided previous year’s Bangla first paper question to 180 SSC examinees at the examination centre on Saturday, said Mohammad Wahidul Islam, Deputy Commissioner of Madaripur.
The students informed the teachers about the wrong question paper soon after the examinations began, but the teachers did not take any immediate step in this regard, he said.
The students blocked a nearly road for two hours to draw the attention of authorities. Later, the deputy commissioner went to the spot and assured of necessary actions.
In Naogaon, the administration sent a show cause notice to a teacher for his carelessness during examinations duties in the Naogaon Government Girls High School center.
Meanwhile, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Sunday said that the ministry directed the officials concerned to submit reports over distribution of wrong question papers among students on the first day of the ongoing SSC and its equivalent examinations.
After a visit to Government Madrasa-e-Alia at Bakshibazar in the capital, she also said that in some cases immediate actions had been taken on account of the wrong question papers distribution.
The minister said that they were also looking into the matter of some printing mistakes in some question papers on the first day of SSC exams.
If any examinee needs to go out of the examination centre, he or she has to leave the question paper in the hall room so that it’s spreading through internet can be prevented, she also said.
Strict surveillance is ongoing to stop question paper leak, and will continue until the examinations end, she said.
“Social media platforms are also under close observation to this end,” she added.
Earlier on Saturday, question papers meant for the examinees of 2018 were distributed among those of 2019 at some centres in the capital, Chattogram, Munshiganj, Satkhira, and Madaripur, according to officials.
