Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) A Z M Nasir Uddin handed over the Ekushey Podok (Prize) of CCC to 16 persons on February 21. Of them seven are writers while rest nine contributed in their respective fields.
The 16 persons who won Ekushey Podok this year are: Prof Dr Bikiron Proshad Barua (Education) Mohammad Hafijur Rahman (Sport), M Nasirul Haque (Journalism) Mohammad Azim Ali (Social Welfare) . Sheikh Mozaffar Ahmed (contribution in Language Movement) Begum Mustari Shafi (contribution in Liberation War) Shyam Shundar Boishnob (Music), Abdul Gafur Hali (Folk Music) Prof A S M Fazlul Karin (contribution in Medical sector), Mohit Ul Alam (novel), Arun Das Gupta (Poetry), Bipul Barua (Child Literature), Milon Chowdhury and Ovik Osman (Drama), Dr Mahafujur Rahman (Research) and Prof Dr Mahabubul Haque (Article).
Addressing the prize giving ceremony as chief guest, Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation A Z M Nasir Uddin said, “We have limited opportunity in the city corporation. But, Chittagong City Corporation honors the legendary personalities in all sectors in Chittagong.
So, Chittagong City Corporation is giving the prizes among our legendary personalities who contributed in different fields including literature, social welfare, liberation war and others.”
He said the Ekushey Podok (Prize) of CCC is an honor to our personalities in Chittagong. The function was presided over by Najmul Haque Duke, chairman of Boi Mela Committee of CCC. Among others, chief education officer of CCC Najia Shirin also addressed the function.
