Chandpur River Thana Police Team seized about 16 maunds of jatka from two Dhaka bound passenger launches from southern regions in the Meghna river near Chandpur launch ghat early Sunday.
Later the seized fish fries were distributed to the orphanages in the town at 12 noon in presence of the Sadar Upazila Fisheries officer Mahbub Rashid.
Contacted, River Thana OC Abu Taher Khan has told this correspondent , acting on a secret information, a team of River Police comprising Sub Inspectors Md Eashan, Parvej along with forces launched separate drives on MV Karnaphuly and MV Pubali in the middle of the Meghna river and after thorough search, located the Jatkas contained in a few baskets on the deck and seized. No owners of the jatka fish fries were, however, found at that time.
